The Sami

Nomadic tribes interest me enormously. The wilderness, the adventure, the trip. Total freedom. To be lived only by the whims of nature. It intrigues me, that life, the tribes. I long for it. In search of freedom, adventure, the intensity of nature around you. Lived only by the reindeer’s instinct to migrate from north to south, from sea to inland, from summer to winter and vice versa.

I’ve been to the Sami twice now and will go again, to join the migration. The Sami are the only nomadic tribe left in Europe. A strong tribe which knows the value of their culture, their way of life, their language. They hold on to it while modern life rushes in. Their culture will survive, it will live alongside modern technology.
